Leader: Shelley Mogil
May Dog Walking dates:
Wednesday, May 7, 2008 9:00 am
Thoreau Woods, Sudbury.
Come join on a leash-free walk along one of my favorite trails and
wander through the back woods of Walden Pond. Less than
2/10ths of a mile south of Route 2 on Sudbury Road you will see a
large yellow house set back behind a stone wall on the left side of
the street (approx 647 Sudbury Road). Turn into the driveway,
(no you are not going into someone's garage) and go to the end to
the head of the trail. Park and meet on the grassy patch
before the trail head.
Monday, May 12, 2008 1:30 pm
Punkatasset Conservation Land,
Concord.
Punkatasset Conservation Land, along with connecting Estabrook
Woods, consists of approximately 800 acres of ponds, pastures and
paths. Hutchins Pond, one of the best for our pups, is at the
beginning of the trail. If your dog is a swimmer make sure you
carry towels in your car. The trail head is at the end of the
driveway for house 873 Monument Street. Park in one of the
small turnouts there and then walk down the driveway to the trail
head. We will meet at the post for the trail head.
Tuesday, May 20, 2008 9:00 am
Bruce Freeman Rail Trail, Concord. At the
intersection of Old Marlboro Road and Williams Road you will see a
parking area marked as the Old Rifle Range. Park there and
then we will walk across the street and down the Bruce Freeman Rail
Trail.
Wednesday, May 28, 2008 9:00 am
White Pond Reservation, Concord. Take Route 2
to Emerson Hospital, make a left and then a quick right onto Old
Marlboro Road. Continue straight past the Middle School and
DON'T make the right turn when Old Marlboro turns but rather stay
straight and you are now on Old Pickard Road. Look on the left
for Powder Mill Road and take a left onto the road until you get to
Plainfield Road. Make a right turn onto Plainfield to the end
and take a right onto Dover Street past Easton Street , then turn
left at the sign for Shore Drive to a small gravel lot on the right
at the bottom of the hill. Continue on foot straight up the
hill, past the green signs saying 'no vehicles beyond this point'.
